Prayer Letter – January 2012
Dear Praying Friends,
Once again we find ourselves saying goodbye to the past year and hello to a new one. We pray that each of you had a wonderful and blessed Christmas. For our family, it was a reminder of just how blessed we are! The Lord provided in so many ways, we can’t even begin to cover all that He has done for us these past few months. Although we did experience some “up and down” times, we can look back on it all and see God’s hand of blessing on our family! It‘s great to know that we serve a mighty big and gracious God.
RAISING NEEDED SUPPORT
With the overall cost of living on a continual rise, it has become a greater necessity for us to raise the remainder of our needed support. We started our journey as missionaries in 2004, and boy have things changed since then! Just traveling from point “A” to point “B” cost over double what it used to when we got started. We know that many of you are facing these same struggles; therefore we are especially grateful for your faithfulness to financially support our family! During the first part of December, we had the opportunity to be in a mission’s conference in Ohio. Each service was spectacular, and the fellowship was some of the sweetest we’ve ever experienced! To make things even better, we just received notification that the church voted support us as one of their missionaries. Please pray with us that we will be able to book a good number of meetings for this coming summer, and that those meetings will produce our needed support
OPPORTUNITY IN PRISON
During November and December I had the opportunity to work in two different prisons with my home church. The first prison we went to was Angola State Prison, which is the largest correctional facility in Louisiana! We were able to hold a service in one of their eight Chapels, and spend time encouraging many of the inmates that attended. Our second prison, Avoyelles Correctional Institute, was even more exciting than the first! At Avoyelles, we were able to hold the only New Year’s Eve service. Not only was the chapel filled with over 150 inmates, but the service was broadcast throughout the entire facility! We had two preachers that night, me and a man from our church. Though we did not discuss what our messages would be, the Lord orchestrated it all together as only He can. As a result of that service, three men came to know Christ as their personal, and many more received the encouragement they needed to start a new year!
In His Service,
The Decker Family
