Prayer Letter – October 2011
Dear Praying Friends,
“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:” Ecclesiastes 3:1
Over the past year our family has personally experienced this passage of Scripture! The Lord has brought many fascinating opportunities our way, and continues to teach us what following Him is all about. Since November of 2010, we have been praying about how far the Lord would have us go in maintaining the Rock of Ages computer department. Such decisions are always difficult, and require a clear and certain direction from the Lord. The past twelve months have been filled with a great deal of traveling to the ROA Home Office. Though much has been accomplished and we’ve enjoyed the privilege to help in many ways, it has seriously limited our work in the public schools. Through all of this, it has become clear that our burden for the youth is greater than any other ministry need. Therefore, the Lord has reaffirmed that our main focus is to the schools, and our assistance in other facets of the ministry must be limited to what we can do from home! We are excited about what the Lord allowed us to do these past twelve months, but even more exciting is what we look to accomplish with the youth! Please pray with us as we prepare for the second half of the school year.
HELPING NEW MISSIONARIES
This past September I once again had the privilege of helping train a new group of ROA missionaries. With the amount of information that new candidates must learn, it can be a rather overwhelming week. This last training class produced seven new missionary couples, who will work with this ministry in many different ways. Since September, I have had the opportunity to help each of them with various questions and problems concerning computers or ROA websites. I do enjoy making it as easy as possible for new missionaries to learn what they need to know.
FAMILY NEWS
Last month our church started their Christmas play practices. Since, we will have the opportunity to be home for Christmas Katie and Victoria will be able to participate in the play. Both girls are very excited! Katie is especially excited because she has her first ever solo part. However, do pray for Liberty as she wishes that she was a big girl and could be in the play as well. Brandi has begun helping in another area of the ministry, by grade PBI lessons. Though it does take time, it is a blessing to see prisoners so interested in God’s Word! Please continue to pray for our family, as we serve the Lord together!
In His Service,
The Decker Family
