Prayer Letter – April 2011
Dear Praying Friends,
Greetings from the Decker family! I apologize that it has been a while since our last prayer letter, but due to the extent of our recent traveling it has been difficult to get this letter in the mail! The past few months have been very busy, with the majority of our time spent traveling to meetings and working at the Rock of Ages Main Office. We just finished an over 3,200 mile trip in 24 days; traveling to northeast Tennessee, southwest Ohio, and then to the ROA Main Office in Cleveland, TN. Though we are fairly exhausted, it is enjoyable to be involved in so many areas of this ministry!
Opportunities To Teach
This past month of traveling was especially exciting, with opportunities to teach in various schools alongside Bro. Jeff Bellamy and my Dad (Pastor Ed Decker). It has been a long time since Bro. Bellamy and I have had the privilege of working together. Though I truly enjoyed teaching in the classrooms with Bro. Bellamy, it was the opportunity to assist in starting a Bible Club that excited me the most. In the Bible Clubs there are only a handful of students attending from the High School but the Middle School Bible Club is already running around 50! The Lord has and continues to provide ways for us to reach the public schools with the Gospel! I also had the privilege of teaching in public school classrooms with my Dad. We’ve never before had the opportunity of working together in this type of ministry, so it was definitely a thrilling experience! My Dad has been pastoring since before I was born, and I don’t know a single person with a bigger heart for reaching youth! To be able to work side by side in that classroom was simply a blessing to me. Although no students were saved as a result of these classes, the seed of God’s Word was planted in the minds of numerous young people!
On The Road Again
Throughout the past several months, we’ve made a number of trips to Tennessee to maintain the computer department of the ministry. This past trip also included the opportunity to teach a class with new missionary applicants and a class in the advanced missionary training! With each step we take, the Lord allows our family to help more Rock of Ages missionaries reach the lost around the world. As the school year comes to a close and summer begins, we are expecting to travel even more in order to raise the remainder of our support and work at the ROA Home Office. I ask that you please pray for my wife and children, as the constant traveling can at times be very tiring! The Lord has blessed me with a beautiful family, and without them I believe none of this would be possible! We also want to thank each of you for all your prayers and support of our ministry. We realize it is the faithfulness of God’s people that affords us this great opportunity to serve the Lord in this manner! We, as a family, are praying for God’s blessings to be poured out on you!
