Prayer Letter – January 2011
Dear Praying Friends,
It almost seems unbelievable that we are now in 2011! As I think about the past few years with the Rock of Ages Ministries, I can’t help but be amazed at what the Lord has done for us. We have three healthy children that continue to make us feel older and older! We have great friends within Rock of Ages, at our home church, and across America! We’ve also had the ability to be an influence on the lives of many young people, that without this ministry we would have never met. Though there have been some valleys, it is always exciting to watch the Lord bring us through! Lately I’ve been overwhelmed with the importance of doing God’s will, and recognizing the goodness of the Lord in our lives! Just last night I had the honor of preaching the teen service at our church. I thoroughly enjoyed being able to share with them those two thoughts which God has placed on my heart! Reaching young people with gospel truths never seems to get old.
Additional Responsibilities
This past October Dr. Terry Ellis, president of the Rock of Ages Ministries, asked if I would pray about taking on the responsibilities of overseeing the ministries computer department. For a while now I have been maintaining the websites; but with the ministries increasing use of technology, there is now a need for someone to manage all the advancements. Through this area of ministry we will have the ability to assist over 130 Rock of Ages missionaries as they serve the Lord in prisons, schools, military institutions, and foreign countries! After much prayer and counsel with my pastor, we decided that it was God’s will for us to take on these responsibilities. However, managing the Rock of Ages computer department in no way replaces the work that we do in the schools. We believe it to be the Lord’s will that we work these two areas of ministry together. Therefore, we ask you to please pray that God will give us much wisdom in time management! We have already made a few trips to Cleveland, TN, in order to work on the Main Office computers and servers, but there will be many more trips in the coming months! We will work to keep you informed on how the Lord blesses this additional area of ministry!
Teaching In The Classrooms
The first half of this school year went very well, with classes being taught in 3 different schools! Each month we were teaching over 47 classes that were anywhere from 45-50 minutes long. While teaching these classes there have been many opportunities to talk with the students about their various Bible questions. Hungry for the truth, they always listened intently as I explain what God’s Word has to say about their questions! It’s always a joy to watch their eyes light up when they finally see and understand the truth. Please pray that the Lord will give us many more of these opportunities in the coming months!
In His Service,
The Decker Family
