Prayer Letter – October 2010

18 October 2010

Dear Praying Friends,

The past month has been very busy with a combination of traveling and preparing for the school year! September 13th – 17th I took a trip to the Rock of Ages home office in Cleveland, TN. I had quite a few meetings with the staff, and a lot of work to do! During that week much was accomplished, including the ability to talk with some of the new missionaries, and get them setup with our online systems! We are now working on a great deal of things that will help us with organization and communication throughout the Rock of Ages Ministry. Please pray that the Lord will give us knowledge and wisdom in putting all of this together.

SCHOOL HAS BEGUN
The week I got back from my trip to Cleveland, TN, I immediately started teaching in our public schools. This is my fourth year in the Holden School, and the students are still excited every time I walk through those doors. Praise the Lord that He continues to give us outstanding favor in the eyes of the school staff and students. It is only by His working on the hearts of each individual, that we are able to continue this work in the public schools of our nation! One of the teachers this year heard me teach a lesson for the first time. She was amazed at how the lesson I taught was exactly what she wanted to say to her students. When given the opportunity, I told her it is God that puts on our heart exactly what to teach and when to teach it! She quickly expressed her appreciation for what we are doing, and her excitement to hear more of our lessons.

This year we were able to add in a new school. Riverdale is a private school that actually has a large number of students from the public schools around them. I have already taught there once, and it went so well that they have increased the number of classes I will be teaching this next week. Please pray for the classes at Riverdale as well! This school has a number of troubled young students, including one young man who claims to be an atheist. Since it is a private school, I am able and expected to use the Bible freely! Our desire is to see the lessons we teach present God’s Word in such a way, that the students will take the Bible and what is says to heart!

OFFICE BUILDING COMPLETE
I am thoroughly excited to tell you that I have been able to complete the much needed office building. Though there’s still a little trim to put up and a few other minor things to do, I have been able to move all of our office equipment into the building. Praise the Lord I am now working out of this new office, and my wife has an extra bedroom in her house! I would like to thank each and every person who has prayed for this project. It has been a long road of work, but in the end what a blessing! Please continue to pray for our family as we seek the Lord’s will each day, and serve Him in the ministry!

In His Service,
The Decker Family
